You’re 5 minutes closer to the dream of being a full-time creator.

Waiting for the timing to be right? Hear us out: the right time is right now. It’s time to start messy, start imperfectly, start now. Don’t wait until everything is all set up the way you want. Everyone has their own obstacles when it comes to taking a step into the unknown: it could be your perfectionism, your ego, your budget, your limitations, or your fear of failing. The reality is, we all have a reason to wait. But in the groovy words of Marc Rebillet, if you don’t show up, it’s not getting done.

Time to show up and do that sh*t.

Newsletters: A Healthy Addition In Your Content Diet

There’s a plethora of great content being created every day. The question is, how do you put your digital blinders on to engage with what you want to see?

With Substack, Patreon, and other newsletter platforms increasing in popularity, subscribing to specific newsletters for your niche are an amazing way to get inspo and info delivered straight to you. So, in addition to the accounts you follow online and the podcasts you listen to (we have a great recommendation below!), newsletters are value-packed and connect you directly to authors and insider content.

We’ve cut out the work for you and curated a list of the best ones on topics such as Web 3.0, Marketing 101 and “1,000 True Fans.” Upgrade your content diet and feed on some good stuff.

Little Extras

🏳️‍🌈 The 2022 Class of TikTok Trailblazers are coming in hot for Pride Month. 12 influencers who are driving change and de-stigmatizing their identities through visibility are being featured on the app, all part of TikTok’s “Pride Together” celebrations.

🪙 In TikTok We Trust. People who once felt lost when it comes to finance (aka most Millennials and Gen Z) are discovering “FinTok” i.e. “financial TikTok” for all the lessons they didn’t get during the education they’re still trying to pay off.

🍼 Will somebody please think of the children??? Pay equity has been a hot topic as of late, and now the focus has turned to child influencers. Laws and regulations exist to protect child actors, but what about the kids online going viral and getting paid sponsorships?

🌮 You know those “This Pride, I’m partnering with” memes? If you don’t, now you do. They’re currently trending as LGBTQ+ creators and influencers poke fun at corporate sponsorships during Pride. Taco Bell, we’re looking at you (and waiting for you to give Katie Johantgen free Baja Blasts for life).

🦐 On TikTok: love, racism, familial trauma and heartbreak are all topics served up beside food and recipe videos. Pull up a chair and dive in with Asian American food creators who are turning their popularity on the app into mainstream success, with book deals, sponsorships, music contracts, and pop-up shops.

🤞 What happens when you only show Reels on your feed? Oh, just everything. Olivia Noceda proves it’s time to take Reels more seriously by explaining how she grew her account by 60K followers — a 75% increase in follower growth — by posting Reels for 6 months. If she can do it, you can do it!

💄Is Glossier trying to get back their It-girl status with YouTube’s new Shoppable Shorts? No, we’re not talking about pants that cut above the knee, this is a new feature that allows viewers to buy products from a YouTube video. Glossier is partnering with 100 influencers to test the new campaign and we’re wondering: will it be the comeback they need after a rough year?

Mikayla Nogueira Spills on How to Grow on TikTok

If you want to grow on TikTok, listen up! On an episode of Life with Marianna, Mikayla Nogueira shares how she created her dream career as a makeup artist and reviewer through years of trial and error. She goes into how she started on YouTube as a 12-year-old and eventually found her groove on TikTok, but not without pushing through a lot of resistance and discouragement.

What she said: “If you’re passionate about what you’re doing, you can be a content creator. You just have to work at it.” With Nogueira having over 12 million followers on TikTok, we’d say: take the advice.
