How to build an email flow with The Leap

Whether it be a welcome sequence, a nurture funnel, or a thank-you note, automated email flows can help you engage with your audience at scale, while saving you time and effort.

Basically, an email flow contains pre-set, customized messages that get sent to your audience automatically, and it’s triggered whenever customers claim a lead magnet or purchase a product from your Leap store.

Flows are great because once you complete the initial setup, they’ll just run on autopilot each time a contact fulfills your trigger — say goodbye to the tedious process of sending tons of emails manually.

With The Leap, you can easily build an email flow by using an expert-recommended, pre-made template, or create your own from scratch. Get started in seven easy steps:

Step 1: Create a new flow

Sign up (or log in) to The Leap and tap Email on the left-side menu. Then, click on + New flow.

Next, choose a pre-made email flow template (e.g. Warm welcome, Friendly check-in, Nurture funnel).

Alternatively, click Build from scratch to craft your own flow.

Step 2: Select a trigger for your email flow

Here, you can rename your flow, and select a trigger for your flow. The trigger could be when customers claim a certain lead magnet, or purchase a specific paid product.

Step 3: Customize your email

Click on the next flow step. If you’ve selected a template, you’ll see a pre-made email here. You can edit the subject and body message, including changing the formatting, and adding variables like contact name and product name.

To make your calls to action (CTAs) stand out, you can add buttons to your email message. To add one, simply highlight the copy you wish to turn into a button in the email editor, click the URL Button symbol, insert your URL, and click Add button.

TIP: Don’t forget to click Save (top right of the page) to make sure your changes are saved.

Step 4: Decide when your email gets sent after trigger

Adjust the timing of when the email will be sent after the flow is triggered (e.g. 7 days, 1 hour, or 10 minutes). If you’re unsure, you may simply keep the recommended setting.

TIP: Be sure to click Save (top right of the page) so that your changes are saved.

Step 5 (Optional): Send yourself a preview of your email

You may send yourself a preview of this email to the email address associated with your Leap account. Simply click the Send me a preview button.

Step 6 (Optional): Add more emails to your flow

To add a second email (or additional emails) to your flow, click + Add email. Repeat steps 3-5 to customize and preview your emails.

TIP: Before adding a new email to your flow, be sure to click Save (top right of the page) to save all changes on your current email.

Step 7: Set your flow to “active”

Once you’re ready to publish your flow, you can change its status from Draft to Active.

You’ll be prompted to confirm that you’re ready to set your flow to “active.” Once you click Do It!, emails will be sent to contacts that fulfill your “trigger” criteria going forward. (Note: Flows will NOT automatically be sent to existing contacts that have fulfilled your trigger criteria. If you’d like to send to existing contacts, we suggest creating a Broadcast email.)

If you’re not ready or if you want to pause sends, click No thanks and you’ll be back to Draft mode again.

In short, The Leap can help you build and send lead nurturing emails in minutes. With expert-recommended email flow templates and first-draft emails pre-written for you, all you need to do is just personalize your flow and you’re all set. It’s that quick and easy!

How to send a broadcast email with The Leap

If you want to send one-off nurturing emails (like a newsletter) or promotional messages (like a product launch announcement or a discount offer email), you can do so with The Leap’s Broadcasts feature.

An email broadcast is a tailored, one-off message that you can send to your entire list of contacts, or only to those who’ve claimed a certain lead magnet, or purchased a specific product from your Leap store.

Whether it be a weekly newsletter, bonus content, or a special announcement, these one-off email campaigns can help you effectively connect with your audience and grow your customer relationships.

Ideally, you’ll use a mix of both email broadcasts and flows to deliver the right message to your audience at the right time. As a rule of thumb, use email broadcasts when you have something important to share. Get started by following these five simple steps:

Step 1: Create a new broadcast

Sign up (or log in) to The Leap and select Email on the left-side menu. Then, tap Broadcasts.

Click + New broadcast.

Select a pre-made broadcast template (e.g. Newsletter, Behind the scenes, Educational). Or, click Build from scratch to craft your own email broadcast.

Step 2: Choose your recipients

Here, you can rename your broadcast, and select the recipients of this broadcast. You may choose to send your email broadcast to your entire list of contacts, or target specific segments.

Step 3: Customize your email

If you’ve selected a template, you’ll see a pre-written email here. You can personalize your email’s subject and body message, including changing the formatting, and adding variables like contact name.

To make your calls to action (CTAs) stand out, you may also add hyperlinked buttons to your email. To add one, highlight the copy you wish to turn into a button in the email editor, tap the URL Button symbol, insert your URL, and click Add button.

TIP: Be sure to click Save (top right) to save all your changes before navigating away from this page.

Step 4 (Optional): Send yourself a preview of your email

To send yourself a preview of this email to the email address associated with your Leap account, click the Send me a preview button.

Step 5: Send your broadcast

When you’re ready, click Send broadcast to deliver this email to your selected contacts.

With a library of expert-recommended templates, The Leap can help you draft up nurture and promotional emails quickly, making it easier for you to connect with your audience and sell your product offering to them. Now there’s one less thing to stress about!

Why you should use email flows and broadcasts

Did you know that successful nurturing campaigns can help generate 50% more sales-ready leads at a 33% lower cost?

If you’re a creator selling digital products, it’s important to communicate with your audience regularly to grow your connection. This is especially true if you’re worried about coming off as “salesy.” Email is a great vehicle for nurturing leads and building trust gradually, before you offer paid products to them. Itโ€™s one of the best and most natural ways to turn leads into customers.

Here are the top three benefits of using email flows and broadcasts:

  • Save time with email automation
  • Add a personal touch to your marketing
  • Nurture and convert your leads effortlessly

Save time with email automation

Being a creator means you’re often juggling between various creative and administrative tasks. So, wouldn’t it be nice if there’s one less thing on your plate?

Think of email flows as a personal assistant who saves you time and brainpower. They’re a great way for engaging with your audience at scale, and require only minimum effort to set up. Once you’ve built an email flow, it’ll run automatically in the background and send emails on your behalf. Bid farewell to the time-consuming process of emailing your contacts one by one.

Add a personal touch to your marketing

With both email flows and broadcasts, you can tailor your messages for different segments of your contacts. For instance, you can choose to send your emails only to those who have claimed a specific lead magnet, or purchased a specific product from you.

By tailoring your messages to specific interests or behavior, you’re able to connect with your audience on what matters most to them. This helps build trust and connection over time, priming your leads to buy from you eventually.

Nurture and convert your leads effortlessly

Using a combination of email flows and broadcasts helps you stay engaged with your contacts, so they’re more likely to purchase your products down the line.

Of course, you’ll want to make sure that you’re delivering value through your emails (read: content that your audience cares about and that shows your expertise). With The Leap‘s expert-recommended email flow and broadcast templates, you can easily craft messages that’ll turn potential customers into paying customers.
