How to use flexible selling and payment options on The Leap

Have you connected your Stripe account to The Leap yet? (If not, you might want to get on that!) If so, then we have some exciting news: you now have access to three powerful new payment and selling options through your Leap store.

  1. Buy Now, Pay Later payment plans
  2. Discount codes
  3. One-click payments via digital wallets

Option 1: Buy Now, Pay Later payment plans

Let your customers buy the products they want now and pay for them at a later date with The Leap’s Buy Now, Pay Later payment plans.

So, how does it work? These plans are integrated into your Leap storefront via popular payment platforms Klarna, Afterpay, and Affirm. This means you, as a creator, have a few options when it comes to the platforms you want to use and the types of plans you want to set up to best serve your customers.

If you’ve already connected your Stripe account to your Leap store, simply head over to the Settings menu on The Leap.

Then, find the Payment methods tab and tap the toggle button to enable flexible payment and selling options.

Buy Now, Pay Later plans have been around for decades (think of layaway options in big box stores). However, they’ve exploded in popularity with online customers in the last few years. Why? Because these types of payment plans allow customers to reduce the upfront cost of the products they want to buy, meaning that they can still purchase your products even if it’s not payday.

Steep prices are one of the biggest blockers for customers looking to purchase a specific digital product. This means that Buy Now, Pay Later plans are especially useful to creators selling higher-ticket items, like a personalized creative portfolio review or social media audit. By offsetting the cost of your most expensive items, you’re making it easier for customers to smash that “Buy Now” button — and for you to boost sales of your priciest offers.

Option 2: Discount codes

Who doesn’t love a good discount? Now, you can harness the selling power of the sale tag by offering discounts on purchases made on your Leap store.

To create discount codes, go to your Leap store’s Settings menu and find the Payment methods tab. Then, tap the “Go to Stripe Coupons” button to start setting up your discount offers.

There are tons of ways to customize your discount codes to best benefit your business and your customers’ needs. Discount codes can be restricted to a specific time period, by number of purchases per customer, to first purchases only, or to individual customers.

Whether small or large, discounts are powerful selling tools that have the potential to make or break a sale. Saving a chunk of change provides customers with more incentive to purchase an item, and can even bump the cost of one of your offers into a customer’s price range. In other words, discounts are often the nudge potential buyers need to make a purchase.

Option 3: One-click payments via digital wallets

Let your clients purchase your products in just one click. That’s right: Leap creators can now offer one-click payments via digital wallets during checkout.

In case you’re unfamiliar, digital wallets are online versions of a customer’s physical wallet, storing their payment information on their device so it’s easily accessible when making online purchases. In other words, they allow customers to pay through their device in just one click.

The Leap offers five digital wallet options to your customers during checkout: Apple Pay, Google Pay, Amazon Pay, Cash App Pay, and Link. All of them aim to make online transactions quick and easy, but each also has its own unique features, benefits, and availability. Using digital wallets on your online storefront maximizes your sales conversions by minimizing friction at checkout. In other words, there’s no need for a customer to grab their (physical) wallet or punch in their credit card info.
